2000 to 2002 – Salt Lake City Liaison for the University Light Rail Project.
Prior to project start-up I assisted the Mayor’s Office with facilitating meetings with business and community leaders to build support for the proposed project allowing for its final approval by the Salt Lake City Council. After project approval responsibilities included assisting the project through various city departments such as Planning, Permits, Engineering, Legal and Transportation; representing the City in all 28 property acquisitions negotiations; overseeing the contractor’s efforts at complying with impact mitigation measures instituted by the City, Utah Department of Transportation, and the Utah Transit Authority to protect the business and residential community along the project alignment; assisted in developing the model for, and representing, the City on the Community Coordination Team; leading or assisting in numerous Community Council presentations on behalf of the project; communicating regular project updates and Community Coordination Team proposed improvements to the Salt Lake City Council and Mayor; facilitating agreements in disputes arising between the project and City entities, community groups, and/or individuals. 2004 to 2006- Community Involvement Manager for the Salt Lake City Public Utilities' 900 South Storm Drain Project.
Community Involvement Manager for the Salt Lake City Public Utilities’ 900 South Storm Drain Project. Assisted the Salt Lake City Public Services Director and the Public Utility Director in writing contract specifications for construction impact mitigation for all upcoming projects; facilitated the development of a Community Advisory Committee; continued to coordinate communication between the project, the community, and Salt Lake City departments. 2005 to 2006- Community Involvement Manager for 900 South Road Reconstruction Project
Responsibilities included organizing and overseeing the Community Advisory Committee, which is charged with evaluating the mitigation efforts of the contractor; setting agendas and facilitating meetings for the CAC; overseeing the public relations efforts of the assigned contractor; meeting with business and property owners regarding possible design improvements that could be included in the project; acting as liaison between the project and various departments within the City; giving periodic update presentations to the Mayor and City Council. 2006 to 2017 – Downtown Rising Ombudsman for Salt Lake City and Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce:
Responsibilities include developing and maintaining Community Coordination Teams for all major construction projects taking place in the Central Business District of Salt Lake City; resolving issues and concerns arising from the community impacted by construction; communicating construction developments and progress to the City Council, Mayor’s Office and various community and business groups; assisting in facilitating the development and implementation of the initiatives defined in the Downtown Rising Master Plan and the “Downtown In Motion” Master Transportation Plan. 2008 to 2013- North Temple/Airport Trax Project Ombudsman for SLC/SL Chamber/UTA
Responsible for organizing and directing the North Temple Community Advisory Committee consisting of businesses and community groups along the project corridor; hold monthly meetings to coordinate the project with the community; direct project marketing funds in an effort to mitigate impacts to businesses and property owners throughout the length of the project; assist Community & Economic Development/RDA in efforts of re-developing the corridor. 2011 to 2014- 6630 Sugarhouse Streetcar Project Ombudsman for Salt Lake City, South Salt Lake, and Utah Transit Authority:
Responsibilities same as North Temple Project above. Project cost: $75M. Contact: Sharen Hauri, Urban Design Director, City of South Salt Lake.
2012 to Present—Sugar House Construction Ombudsman for SLC/SLCRDA.
Responsible for communicating with and coordinating multiple construction projects occurring in the Sugar House core business district; attend and report to the SH Community Council and SH Merchants Association meetings; field complaints and issues while negotiating resolutions to relieve construction impact. Meet bi-weekly with City Transportation, Engineering, Utilities, and RDA representatives to coordinate efforts at reducing impacts of the multiple projects occurring in the Sugar House area. 2013-2014—Community Outreach Manager for Salt Lake City 300 South and 200 West Bike Lane Projects.
Surveyed businesses along both corridors prior to construction; organized and facilitated community meetings to inform and receive input; coordinated construction activities between the contractor and business owners.
